FBFF – New Trends
Yay a new year for Friend Friday! The first topic looks at new trends. I’m not quite sick of layering and heavy sweaters just yet but I am definitely watching new trends and planning how to brighten up my wardrobe.
With Fashion Week just around the corner, we are all beginning to focus on the upcoming trends for autumn, but what about the trends hitting the shops now? What are you coveting?
I’d love to try some mismatched prints. I think 99% of my wardrobe are solid colours and stripes! And I’m finding myself strangely drawn to pale pink at the moment.

possibly a step in the wrong direction…..
How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe?
I don’t follow trends too much and don’t worry that I have to buy into them. Of course I will fall in love with something new, who doesn’t? I find the easiest way to incorporate a trend is buying it in a shape you like and adding one piece to your existing outfit formula. I love skinny jeans and will probably get a printed pair.
What trends are you seeing and not loving?
Neon. Colour that should be seen on workout clothes and nowhere else. I don’t even like neon accents.
Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your wardrobe with the latest trends?
I feel more pressure from my inner voice telling me to buy something pretty but the voice isn’t particularly design led. I do the odd outfit of the day post and for those posts I do of make an effort with what I am wearing. I’m on a budget and I’d rather save my money and get something I will get a lot of wear from. Oh god I’m turning into my mum.
Where do you find inspiration to take the trend and make it accessible to you and your personal taste?
I think in the last few years that fashion blogs would be my main inspiration. Even in Grazia (which I buy weekly) the street style photos is my favourite section. I don’t really study fashion editorials too closely. I love seeing how people accessorise and style an outfit. I think the ability to style and accessorise is a skill and can bring an outfit from just fine to fabulous.
